    Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forum, so please be kind.

I just got home after watching Suzanne perform at the Tokyo International Forum in Tokyo. This was Nth time I have seen her perform and I have to say that it was amazing. I mean, Suzanne is always amazing, of course, but this performance was truly great.

I was lucky to get front row seats on the farthest right corner to the stage (Suzanne, if you are reading this, I was the guy with the blue striped rugby shirt).

Suzanne came out wearing that stunning trench coat dress.

Her first song was an acoustic version of 'Tom's Diner.' She later sang the song with the full band. It kind of surprised me that she sang it twice, made me do a double take, thought I had deja-vu. The second song she sang was my favorite song of Suzanne's, 'Marlena on the Wall.' From there, I kind of lost track, but she performed songs from both her new album along with her classics. After the concert, a lucky guy got the play list. Rats, I should have tried to get it from the stagehand before him.

What made the night was that during her first encore, she asked what the audience wanted to hear. Someone beat me to it, saying, 'The Queen and the Soldier.' She replied, 'Um....I will take that into consideration' (or something like that).  Now I had never heard her perform that live so her reply did not surprise me. But after the first song she sang for the encore, she played it. I almost had a heart attack. Not only from hearing it live, but the last time I had heard that song was maybe when I was in high school. It is kind of sentimental and I rarely listen to it.

To wrap this up.Thank you, Suzanne, for a wonderful concert. It was great to see you again and the band was superb. Everyone looked like they were having fun.

P.S. I am not that guy who screamed, "Suzanne, you look sexy tonight." Now that was funny. Unfortunately, that guy said it just a split second before she started playing her next song so there was no reaction from Suzanne. I wonder what was going on in her head. Ha ha.

I came back from Tokyo International Forum, too! I was in the third row, left of the center (right from the stage) and I loved the show with the full band. The set list was the same with Singapore's, except that Suzanne played Bound with band instead of Small Blue Thing. She took off her high heels before Bound, saying they are criminal and hurt herStick out tongue.

My personal highlights of the night were New York is a Woman, (I'll Never Be) Your Maggie May (Suzanne grinned when signing "those ladies in Japan..."), Blood Makes Noise, and Rosemary (I just love this song!). I wish the audience were more energetic (Suzanne commented, "thank you for being so quiet and respectful") but I did enjoy the night.

Suzanne and the band, Thank you for the great show and I hope you have a good trip to Australia.

    Chie

Thanks for these great reviews :) Did Suzanne do any sorts of signings or anything after the shows?

    Hi seaofink,

Like in Singapore, there were public signing sessions after the Osaka and Nagoya concerts, but not for the Tokyo performance. At all the venues though, SV merchandise were for sale - many of the CDs, as well as the black "I [heart] SV" t-shirts. The t-shirts have the words "Suzanne Vega  Beauty & Crime" printed in black on the red heart, so are a little different from the ones you get from the official store.

    cheers, suporn

    suporn,

How knowledgeable you are. Did you also attend the concert in Tokyo? If so, what were your impressions? I wonder why she didn't come out for a signing at the Forum? I really wish she did. I have yet to meet her face to face. For those those that have met her, I'm curious what have you said/talked to her about?
