Joe's Pub NYC
Tuesday
Two shows. It went very well though I was sweltering hot and so was the audience. I had never played there before. feels so weird to be beginning a tour with no new material and nothing to promote.
But this winter was a long and difficult one. I spent most of my time on trying to reorganize my business since leaving my former manager. I met with several managers, some more than once. I signed with Michael Hausman about a month ago, who with Aimee Mann, founded United Musicians.
So I am optimistic about this new relationship.
Anyway back to the gig. I had been having health problems this winter too, sometimes so tired I would fall asleep with my head on the dining room table at 8:30. I went to an immunologist who suggested a no-yeast no-sugar no-alcohol diet, which I have been following for two months now. He also gave me some magnesium supplements, which I have been taking and I really feel this new regime has helped my energy level, doing 2 shows was not a problem.
Apparently Glenn Close came to the gig and talked to Billy at the bar, but he never brought her backstage so the rest of us never saw her!
So it was good! I met Catherine which was nice, she is the embodiment of the warmth of her notes on the Undertow. As usual we are still working out the set list. Mike wavers between wanting to stick with 99.9F and Marlene on the Wall. I like 99 -- since it was the theme song of the American Mavericks radio show.
Now that I am back on tour I must finish up last year’s tour diary!! There are still several outstanding entries that I meant to finish!
