Bar Harbor, Maine - Sun Aug 24
What a beautiful place! It is so beautiful it hurts my heart to stand in the harbor there, in the light of late August. The smell is indescribable, the salt and spray. I wandered around the harbor in the late afternoon and had a cup of coffee and just looked at the rocks and boats coming in. Very satisfying.
Last night’s show was pretty good. I was tired by then. I knew some people had come from the previous show in Freeport, so I wanted to make it different. I read “The Happy Gravedigger” which went well, and we sang “Harbor Song” in honor of the harbor.
I decided to open the floor again to people’s questions and comments, and then wasn’t sure I should have. One guy shouted out, “Can I make love to you?” Oh, brother. This embarrassed me somewhat, but I took it in stride. Then came a different question from a different person: “Can you get more gain in your vocal mic?” and I thought, oh here we go again, and I referred him to Glynn.
Overall it was fine and lively, the one guy, I guess, had drunken a lot and kept moaning and shouting which was funny at first and then became less so. Then we had the long overnighter home.
Bought “The Lobster Chronicles” which I LOVE. It is good to read about someone’s else’s fishing mania, since my brother Matt is so wild about fishing.
