In my mind, there are 4 women who set the tone for later music that women made in the pop/rock spheres:

-Laura Nyro (RIP) -Joan Armatriding -Joni Mitchell -Patti Smith -Kate Bush -Madonna

Are you freakin kidding me? MADONNA?!?! ugghhh. I don't even know what to say other than I need to respespect a persons artistry and that person has never EVER done anything in her career that has even slightly turned my ear nor caused me to pause and say, "wow, I respect that. And... 4 women... oh, nevermind... Not even worth it.
