Hello,

I went last night to Borders. Apparently I was the only Towie representin' the flock. : )

Suzanne was in really great voice and played a lot more songs than I expected. Mike was on bass, and Ruby sang backup on a few songs- it was my first time hearing her, and their voices blended so nicely.

She played (in no particular order): New York is a Woman (and sort of a beeyotch), Pornographer's Dream, Small Blue Thing, Gypsy, In Liverpool, Luka, Left of Center, Blood Makes Noise, Tom's Diner. There must have been one or two more from Beauty & Crime that I forgot.

I have to say that just SV and Mike playing together is one of my favorite setups. There is something about Mike's melodic basslines and Suzanne's guitar playing that is just so expressive. It brings out more in her voice than the whole band somehow. And they sounded great despite playing in front of a crowd that may or may not have been fans.

As for me representing the 'Tow, I am the worst choice. I had a camera and didn't take pictures- I was in the back as I had run over after work and made it in after she had began. There was a lot of flashes going off, though. So I got my own copy of B&C signed, and bought an extra for a doctor I work with who is a huge fan. And as usual my mind blanked when I was in front of her...which is probably a good thing because I would have embarrassed myself with cliches like "you're a huge inspiration to me" and "I don't know what I do without (insert song here)" and "if you started a songwriting class I would be the first to sign up". So I kept cool and said hello and thank you and went on my way...and felt lightheaded all the way home. But that may have been because I skipped dinner... : )

Hope you sold lots of CDs Suzanne, and thank you very much for playing. You always make me feel lucky to be a New Yorker.
