Hopefully this thread will get well used. Use it to report any 'sighting' of Suzanne's music, any mention of her, etc.

    To start off:

This Sunday on The Splendid Table, I heard part of "If I were a Weapon" (IIRC, it was just music, I couldn't place to which song it belonged, when I got home, I checked against a few) during the intro to the show. And when they came back for the main segment about sweets, they played Caramel.

NPR seems to take a liking to using Suzanne's material as 'bumper' music.

    Lovely thread Uncwilly,

I had a "hearing", but I forget now when and where it was. Next time I will pay more attention and share it on this thread! Ah no...it's coming back. It was from "SIRAG" and was on BBC Radio 2, Jeremy Vine show, when I was moving offices in July... I forget which song. No - I think it was "Last year's Troubles". At the time, I was singing along, oblivious, and then realised, looked up and exclaimed "It's Suzanne!". My boss and colleague were underwhelmed and resumed their conversation...philistines!

My father told me a few weeks ago that Matt Drudge (of the Drudge Report) on his radio show used some song of Suzanne's as bumper music. He couldn't tell me the song, but he recognized her voice (he had heard it when he recorded an American Mavericks show for me.)

    Hi Uncwilly,

I quite often hear Suzanne's music playing when I'm walking around shopping centres (Mall's to those over the other side of the big pond!) I would guess Luka etc are on a CD of "music for shoppers", makes a nice change from the normal muzak you hear in the background.

I must add that you did make me worry when I first saw your title for this thread. I thought you'd started a "Stalkers Charter"

    Cheers, Geoff A.

Drudge used Suzanne's music in his show? That makes me physically ill.

Bumper music is the lead in and exit music for a radio segment. Some shows have theme music, but others start with a different piece every time. If it is commercial radio, it is used before and after commercial breaks. It softens the transition.

    Hey Jan,

Yes i had a similar thought about "bumpers" and fairgrounds! Our American friends don't know what they've missed at a British travelling fair!

Belle and Sebastian was indeed the programme with the big dog! Ahemm; I have to say I wasn't around to see the original but can remember the subsequent animated series. I love the idea that a number of shows were dubbed into English, rather than the reverse which must heartily sicken those for whom English is not their language. I think there was one called Wild Horses as well, but I am struggling to recall much detail.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who loves ER. Can't wait for the next series (ok, if they insist "season") on C4. When I was off work and it was on in the morning, it was followed by a thing called Third Watch, which I thought was of a similar quality. I don't ever recall it being on in the evening, which was a surprise.
