    Hi Scott

Let me be the first to welcome you to the boards! And thanks for posting your track listing - I don't recognise any of it so should be a good voyage of discovery for me!

Since I’m married to Scott, I technically also own all his CDs, but that doesn’t mean I know all his music. Actually, I was only familiar with about half the songs he included.

I played this mix in my car for at least a whole week, and really enjoyed it. It's a great mix.

1.Song Against Sex – Neutral Milk Hotel
Scott and I discovered these guys a number of years ago when they opened for Superchunk. This is a great song, and with the horns and running drumbeat, you might feel like dancing around the room.

    2.Step Aside – Sleater Kinney
Scott made an all Sleater Kinney mix, which I have a copy of, but I haven’t listened to it enough to really know them. This is one of the songs that sticks in my mind. It is a bit different from their other stuff ... and I just love it. Great horn part again (and I especially like the ‘Woo-hoo’s and ‘Na-na’s), I was certainly bopping my head while driving to this tune.

    3. Go! – Apples in Stereo
Maybe the happiest tune in the world? I love these guys ... so much fun. More horns (which Scott claims was not on purpose). I’ve only really listened to them on road trips, otherwise their CDs are securely stored in Scott’s jukeboxes. I might just have to borrow them ...

    4. From Blown Speakers – New Pornographers
I’ve recently heard the full CD this song is on quite a bit (the latest road trip), and it’s a CD I definitely need to have my own copy of. I just love it.

    5. Glad Girls – Guided By Voices
Great song. Nice, happy, feel-good vibe.

    6.I Can’t Stop Smiling – Velocity Girl
I’ve been listening to VG since college, when Scott introduced me to them. I haven’t listened to this album in a long time (in Scott’s jukebox), great hearing it again!

    7. Better Son/Daughter – Rilo Kiley
Scott made me a copy of this CD immediately after buying it, and has been spreading the word to everyone who might enjoy their music because they’re just amazing. Great lyrics, great tunes. Hope you all love them as much as we do.

    8. Undercover’s On – Rival Schools
    This song’s OK.

    9. Wild Pack of Family Dogs – Modest Mouse
This song keeps getting in my head. So odd, but I really like it! Funny and disturbing at the same time ...

    10. Timber – Neko Case & Her Boyfriends
I wasn’t too familiar with Neko ... and I can tell I’m going to have to listen to more from her. She’s got a great voice. This song sounds like it could be from a different era.

    11. Past Imperfect – Lloyd Cole and the Negatives
This is the only Lloyd Cole CD I know ... only because I listened to it quite a bit before seeing Lloyd in concert a few years back. I enjoyed it a lot ... I should listen to him more.

    12. Soul and Fire – Sebadoh
Scott mentions this song is a “sentimental favorite” in his liner notes ... I think he might have put it on a mix tape for me many, many years ago. It’s a good song.

    13. 2 Cool 2B Forgotten – Lucinda Williams
Really great tune. I get it stuck in my head too. I must listen to more Lucinda.

    14. Friends of the Enemy – No use for a Name
    I like it.

    15. Indefinitely – Old 97’s
I love these guys, and Rhett Miller’s solo stuff. We saw Rhett solo this summer, he played both his solo and Old 97’s songs ... and rocked out more on acoustic guitar than I’ve ever seen ... absolutely amazing. He’s really cute, too.

    16. Magic Bullet Theory – Texas is the Reason
    This song’s OK.

    17. Wires and Waves – Rilo Kiley
This is from their first CD (I only have a copy of the second, so I don’t know it too well). I love this song. I could listen to it over and over again.

    18. Watery Hands – Superchunk
Another band I was introduced to by Scott in college. They’re great.

    19. Confessions of a Futon Revolutionary – The Weakerthans
I didn’t know these guys at all before listening to this mix. This is a great song.

    20. Passenger Side – Wilco
I’m somewhat familiar with Wilco … but I didn’t know this song until now. I love it. Especially the violin part. (maybe I should dust off my violin …)

    21. No Depression – Uncle Tupelo
I don’t know Uncle Tupelo very well ... but I like this song a lot. A bit more twang than I’m used to ... but that’s not a bad thing.

    22. Dragon Lady – Geraldine Fibbers
I don’t know Geraldine Fibbers very well, though I bet I’ve listened to this album more than a couple of times. It just doesn’t stick for some reason.

What I want to know is: How much did Scott spend on postage?

P.S. Go Cubs! Go Red Sox! Go Marlins!

Scott, just want you to know I got your disc and am giving it a listen. October's a hectic month for me, but I haven't forgotten you.

Oh those poor, bastard, suck-ass cubs have broken my heart tonight! Uhg! How they went from a 3 game lead to losers of the century is... well it's pure Cub! (sob!)

You have my sympathies (and no gloating) from South Florida. Just ask George W. Bush -- this part of the state specializes in bizarre victories.

As much as I was rooting for the Marlins tonight (and unable to breathe after Wood hit that home run), I also kept thinking how cool it would be to see the curse broken finally. But if history is any guide, next year Florida will trade all its good players away and lose 108 games -- so the Cubs will definitely have a shot.

Now go Red Sox! I want to see John Henry lose the World Series to his old team!

I cannot believe the Marlins beat Prior and Wood. Although I also can't believe Matsui threw that ball into the stands...Contreras' pitches in the dirt...and Heredia walking in the go ahead run. I am not looking forward to tonight's game.

    Hey yo -

I just received SCOTT'S MIX and I am listening to it right now.

I can already tell that this will be my favorite of all of the Towie tree CDs. This puppy hits the musical nail on the proverbial head.

Listening to this CD is like attending indie college.

There's a 60's, beatle, brit invasion vibe to a number of the songs.

    Love it

    Hiya Scott -

I thoroughly enjoyed this mix. I've
made myself a copy for future exploration.

Thanks for turning me onto so many cool indie bands.

OK, Wild Pack of Family Dogs is pretty funny in a subtle way. Better Son/Daughter makes me want to kiss Jenny Lewis, whatever the consequences.

Oh boy. I am just infatuated with "from blown speakers". And better son/daughter. I didn't know anyone made music like this still. Thanks.

I'm glad you're digging those tunes.

The New Pornographers (heck anything involving Neko Case) and Rilo Kiley are probably my two favorite non-punk bands these days.

I would strongly suggest picking up The Electric Version by the New Pornographers. It's one catchy tune after another.

If you're interested in hearing more Rilo Kiley, www.rilokiley.net has a bunch of acoustic concerts posted on their site. Of course you could always pick up "The Execution of All Things." After hearing both my disc and Lauren's you should know what you're getting into with Rilo Kiley.

I'm going to have to be careful about mentioning it - my children (teenagers) might hear just the "Kylie" part of the name and get the wrong idea.

By the way, you may need to kick back a bit when my disc arrives. At least one of the tracks has an intro (before the words start) that's longer than most of your tracks!
