    Hi Zeynep,

    To me your collection of songs seems very wide in range of styles and there's a great list of artists there.
    As for the U2 song you chose, the poem they use there is great, of course, their performance make it even greater.A moving true story.

    Anyway, i liked the film 'The Million Dollar Hotel'
    with Mel Gibson, with Wim Wenders' and Bono's direction. The film's music is great too, and hearing Milla Jovovich singing was a big surprise.

    Are Sertab Erener and Shivaree from your country?

    wishing everyone a nice weekend. best,
    Zoli

    Dear Zoltan;

    First of all thanks for you response. I heard U2's The Ground Beneath Her Feet when I went to cinema to see The Million Dollar Hotel. When the movie ended I couldn't move myself from the chair because the song was very enchanting, it brought me shivers.
    (by the way I also bought the soundtrack but the highlight of that cd will always be The Ground Beneath her Feet for me, Milla's voice is 'interesting':-)

    As for Sertab Erener and Shivaree, Yes Sertab is from my country, she is the woman who won the Eurovision song contest with "Everyway that I Can." But that song was too poppish for my taste so I put her cover song into my mixed cd.
    Shivaree is an American band. I'm sure if you hear the "Goodnight Moon" you'll immediately recognize the song. :-)

    lots of love;

    Zeynep

    dear Zeynep,

    thanks for the pieces of info! I will try to 'catch' the band and the solo performer you
    referred to on the radio.
    Also i agree with you about the soundtrack of The Million Dollar Hotel and Milla's
    voice.

    wishing a nice week to everyone.
    love,
    Zoli

    Zeynep,

    I received your CD, I already listened to it 2 times and... hm... the review comes shortly :o) I was actually durprised about the mood of the album, and I discovered that I know more songs that I actually recognised by looking at the tracklist.

    Hi Zeynep,

    I'll tell you why I was surprised about your CD. You also noticed that there are three artists who are included both on our CDs: Björk, PJ Harvey, and Garbage. Therefore, when I saw your tracklist I thought that our CDs will be very similar in style. Actually, I was considering incuding Tracy Chapman and Bono from the Million Dollar Hotel Soundtrack. And still I think the CDs are totally different... Your CD is more acoustic, mine is sometimes full of very loud, annoying distortions. I hope you can listen to them soon :o)

    It is true that Play Dead is one of Björk's best songs... Well, maybe thanks to David Arnold :o) Anyway, the song had a great impact on me when I was still at high school. One of the most depressed lyrics in the world of popular music. Only Portishead has even more "effective" suicide songs.

    Thirteen! A surprise for me. I thought this song was written by Garbage! And I cannot really get used to this original version. I like Garbage's version, which is maybe a bit simpler in sound... more clear.

    Cat Stevens. She has a very similar voice to... ahm... well, I can't remember... later... :o)

    It is interesting that you write, you cannot decide whether you like Springsteen's Secret Garden because of the movie or you liked the movie because of the song. Actually, I cannot decide whether I like the song because of its video. I haven't seen it for years now, but I remember a girl running in an orchard, and the whole video had a blue-ish basic color. Beautiful.

    You are right. I know Fast Car, but I didn't know Broken :o)

    The Tom McRae song sounds familiary... but maybe only because I listened to your CD so many times :o)

    #1 Crush. An early Garbage song. They sound have made it a single. But it was only a B-side... to a single to Subhuman I think. Not sure, I love Garbage but I still have only their Version 2.0 album and the singles from that era.

    I LOVE the Million Dollar Hotel soundtrack! My favorite one is actually Dancing Shoes. Bono has such an interesting voice on that track.

    Wow! Is this girl called Shivaree because her shivering voice? :o) Very good. I like the mood of it... It actually reminds me Suzanne's NOOD... which is my favorite album, although some people consider it Suzy's low-point. I don't know why, but I'm fond of low-points, albums that don't sell, etc. :o)

    Fields of Gold. I should obtain Best of Sting at last.

    The song by Sertab Erener starts as if it were on the Million Dollar CD :o) ...because of the guitar... When I heard her voice I was sure she was Turkish. I really love the song, but it sounds a bit like a song for a coffee advertisement :o)

    Hah! When Nick Cave started singing I thought it was in Turkish :o) Of course this couldn't have happened with a native speaker of English or Turkish :o) I like Nick Cave's dark and unusual images. The line with the kitten is my favorite :o)

    Ah, I totally forgot about the song of Tori. I have'nt heard it for such a long time. Thanks Zeynep, I really needed to hear this one :o)

    Blue Raincoat! Another surprise... for me. I didn't know it was Cohen's song. His music is totally unknown for me... And imagine ME calling myself a fan of Suzanne's music :o) I know, Cohen is essential. Mea maxima culpa. Zeynep, you write: "If you haven't listened to 'Famous Blue Raincoat' yet, shame on you. The years you spent without this song was all in vain." And you are right, the song is fantastic... But not only the lyrics and the melody but the vocals, the production, the sound of the recording. It is just perfect! I must have this. I knew Tori's live version of this song, but the original is much much better. When I heard Tori's version I didn't really paid attention to it. It is such a pity that there are stupid noises at the end of the track which were probably put there by your CD-writer. Or maybe the original CD has some scratches on it.

    There's not a single song which I didn't like on this album. Fantastic songs. There are songs I didn't write about, but it doesn't mean I don't like them.
    Now, this was my review :o)

    Dear Andras;

    Thanks so much for your review, I'm very glad that you liked the Cd and I can't wait to hear yours. It seems like we have a similar music taste :-)

    By the way you're right about the disturbing sounds in the end of Cohen's Famous Blue Raincoat :-( I spotted that when I was ready to send the CD and didn't have enough time to make a new one. Thanks God the sounds doesn't start in the middle of the song :-)

    all the best;

    Zeynep
