FJ: "a face for radio"
Well, as a member of nation that is often praised for beauty of its women but whose male part's handsomeness is... say, much less famous :-P I can easily believe the guy in his sixties doesn't have this kind of problems but just supports his legend and in the same time protects his privacy - his audio persona definitely is a celebrity here.
As far as I'm concerned, he can have one eye like a Cyclops or nose twice as large as Cyrano de Bergerac. I'd love him anyway :)))

Yo Suzanne -- It wasn't Wendy brought you all the victuals. Are you kiddin', wine, brie, pistachios, etc. on a nun's allowance?! It was me. And the shopping bags? Well, please 'scuse the presentation but your gig fell right in the middle of parent/teacher conferences and report cards. I'd been scrambling for weeks to get everything arranged so I could take the time off from work during this most busy time. And fresh food meant a fresh trip to the market. Anyway, no shaming intended -- mutter all you like, makes for interesting reading. It was all simply meant for fun and I hope the fellas saved a bite for you. Hopefully, there was something in the larder that made your tastebuds sing. Thanks again for the lively show and all your kindnesses. Peace, Ra

Please note that the performance in St. Louis will be approximately thirty minutes longer than usual, due to my trading Larry David quotes back and forth with the band. If the gig is in a casino and the city is not called Las Vegas, run! K.C. is a bit provincial, don't take it personally. Still, I'm certain that by 2009 or so, they will discover Luka* and it will become a hit on the radio over there. In the meantime, if you change your name to Garth and/or serve Barbeque before the gig, you might do ok there. (No, there is no cross-state rivalry, why would you think that?) *Luka might be a bit too "black sounding" for Kansas City sensibilities.

By the way, very cool to be willing to walk out in front of an almost-empty house and play for the folks who did come out. Takes guts. Not many performers would do that.

My sincerest apologies -- I should know better than to write when I'm sleep deprived, stressed-out and in the middle of a hot flash. With my tail between my legs, Ra

SV? Please, don't change your name to Garth, Faith, Shania, Toby or, for that matter, Celine.

This is my first time wondering around this website. Suzanne mentioned at the show on Wednesday if anybody has been keeping up with her online blog and even she had to laugh as the audience fell deathly silent! I've been a fan of Suzanne's for years now so I felt the least I could do was come in and take peak and see what's going on. I do want to say that I thought the show was simply awesome and though a lot of my friends don't like it when artists explain their work beforehand, I personally enjoy it and as Suzanne explained each song I felt as if I got to know them and her a little better... so it was all good. I especially liked "New York is Woman" which immediately inspired me to write a piece that I have so aptly titled "Los Angeles is a Transvestite" that has been making me smile ever since I wrote it. Anyway, just wanted to show some some love. I hope to participate in some other discussions in the future. Peace -Breeze P.S. I just had to laugh looking at the pictures of the nuns that you have here on your website from Wednesday's show! I remember seeing those nuns and joking with the guy beside me that one sure way to know that you're getting old is when you are attending the same music concerts as nuns! He did me one better and said, "No, you're truly old when you're bring your wife and kids to the show!" and he introduced me to his family!

I am one of the 52 people in KC with tickets to the cancelled show .. and I will be making the trip 4 hours east to St Louis to see her. As far as KC being backwards ,. some areas are certainly .. but not everyone here lives for bbq and country music. I think the blame for the Harrah's show being a bust falls squarely on the promoter and venue, moreso than performer. I've seen a total of one promo for the show, and that was in the local bar and nightlife rag (the pitch). As far as driving to the other side of MO for a show ,. I've done it before ,. this and the fact that the last show in kansas was also canceled (with good reason, but still canceled). Not that it matters, but Ticketmaster mumbled something about scheduling conflict when pressed on why the show was canceled .. no true ,. but I've never known Ticketmaster to be terribly accurate from one call to the next.

The usage of "Scheduling conflict" has much in common with two other, well-worn reasons: "Artistic differences". Used when a band splits up. "Spend more time with family.", Used when a someone wants out before real trouble starts. See Politics.

Ooops! Hey Rachel, maybe Phil thought you were also a nun! Anyway let me just add that Rachel was also most generous to me - thanks again Rachel for buying the Sisters our drinks, for the T-shirt etc and all the other kind things you've done. Suzanne, the Sisters had a real kick seeing themselves on your blog! Sr. Frances (on Phil's right) says that it was very gracious and considerate of you to stay back to meet your fans no matter how tired you and the band were. That, she adds, is "a sign of a true entertainer!" Sr Lea (who’s written quite a few books) says she thoroughly enjoyed the concert and that you sound much better “live”! She said she especially liked New York is a Woman and then added, “actually I liked all the songs, which is kinda rare usually.” She also loved your introductions to the songs which she said you articulated cleverly, and to top it all, she said that she still has a couple of your tunes going on in her head!
If you want peace, work for justice.

Hi Wendy and all, Wendy, nice pics!! I guess now other artists might be envious of Suzanne, having such enthusiastic nun fans like you three are!! I wonder how B&C sales have been increasing in the nun world,- after you are spreading the word... :) have a nice day! best wishes, Zoli

Suggestion: If ya'll head back this way, try the Blue Note in Columbia, MO. (Either in addition to or instead of KC.) Really nice venue in a college town (midway b/w St. Louis and....that other city) that gets good turnout from the students and townies. Home of the soon to be victorious Mizzou Tigers. (I realize no one else here cares about this game, I just don't care that you don't care!)
