I saw Suzanne in my dream last night and wrote down the details when I woke up this morning. It was strange but also very nice, so here we go :P I was in a summer place, actually a summer house kind of place and I was trying to sleep with my pyjamas on etc. Then in the next room there is Suzanne! She has her full band with her, and also some other guests. She is soundchecking with a guitar. I become so excited but I don't want to disturb her, so I crawl out of my bed and poke my head round the corner of the door of their room. Then, I find myself inside the same room with Suzanne and the band, still in my pyjamas. There's someone next to me and I ask him if it'd be impolite to ask Suzanne to play some songs for me with her guitar, I justify myself by saying "after all she didn't come to Turkey in her tour!" haha. The person tells me it wouldn't be very nice to ask her that so I shut my mouth. Then Suzanne starts singing Marlene on the Wall and the room turns into a beach stage, I forget the lyrics to the song so I cannot sing it with her & I feel embarrassed. Suzanne's cell phone rings and it's Ruby calling from a kite festival. Then we find ourselves in the kite festival with amazing Japanese kites flying in the air (in the shape of tigers, dragons etc.) and the rest, hmm, I don't seem to remember :( It was so nice to see Suzanne live, even if it was only a dream. lotsa luv; Zeynep

Hi Zeynep,
You got Suzanne, the band, a beach, and outstanding japanese kites into one dream. I'm feeling so much jealousy that nightmares are coming my way.I guess that creature that looks like the cookie monster is going to eat me again tonight, i'm used to it already.Sometimes i just jump into his mouth to get the nightmare over with.I wish i was joking, but i'm not, it's my standard nightmare.
And, Turkey is beautiful. It deserves to have a concert sooner or later, and it will be for real. Keep those dreams the way they are, and thanks for sharing it:)
love to my fellow same birth-day gemini Zeynep,
Paulo

Last night I dreamed that I was at a meet-and-greet session with a couple of other Towies, and Suzanne mentioned to us that she's currently working on a project, remaking the "Solitude Standing" album. We were, of course, super excited to hear what it's like, so she kindly let us have a listen through her disc-player's earphones. It turned out to be a musical... And suddenly scenes of the production appeared... it was set in a lively and bustling seaport town in the 1950s, filled with sailors and erm.. courtesans. The album opened with an ensemble cast singing and dancing to "Towed Aweigh!", followed by "My Luka", sung by a jaded and heart-broken prostitute (in fishnet stockings, with smeared makeup) pining for her lost love (child?). There was even a glossy programme booklet available, with colourful pictures and names of people involved in the production, and it looked like a massive (but fun) project. I've been having a fever, so I guess that's the only excuse I have for the active imagination..

Oh, Suporn, finally you give me an excellent opening for a once in a lifetime criticism to you. I've been waiting for 3 years, my god, here it goes.
I reckon that, although it lacks some consistency in a couple of space/time transitions (and i personally dislike the way you view me singing "My Luka", how could u..), i give it a 7.5 out of 10. It's a fair evaluation.
The project is an excellent idea though, and i support its transition from dream to reality. This dream reveals how lucid and orderly creative you are even when with fever, this is a compliment of course:) Please get well soon, ok? and keep dreaming, but please address the issues mentioned.
Paulo PS: yes, now i feel fulfilled.

Wow, Suporn, talk about Vega fever! You must be really super excited for the Jan 19 show as many others are as well. I agree with Paulo that this dream could be a reality. And from my own experiences I can certainly vouch that dreams do come true!! When you look at the musical Mama Mia, wouldn’t it be great to have a musical based on Suzanne’s songs! Gosh, imagine the different scenarios and plots that could result from the great variety of her musical anthology! By the way Paulo, I think in Suporn’s musical, you’re more likely a sailor sitting by the beach singing and playing “Song of Sand”! Any Broadway producers out there reading this? Get well soon Suporn!
If you want peace, work for justice.

Suzanne dreams ARE THE BEST!!! THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST!!! I've had quite a few. Probably like 8 or 9 dreams with her in them over the last few years. The best one (I think I posted on it a while ago in another thread) involved her performing "The Marching Dream" at some sort of outdoor venue, sort of like Woodstock, although much more intimate. It was the perfect day (20C/70F or so), mostly overcast, lots of wildflowers in bloom in the grassy field where the intimate audience sat/stood, and just a shallow, horizontal stage with the Sonic Queen of My Heart and her band. There was also the one I had a few months ago where I showed up very early to her Toronto concert and was accidentally let in to the venue too early and somehow I had discovered that, but risked getting thrown out if they found me or if I even took the responsibility to go back and stand in line (as it was in reality, I was actually the first person in line for her Toronto concert this September) and then Suzanne and Ruby came in and I was always ducking behind curtains and other places to make sure that neither Suzanne, Ruby or anybody else found out that I was 'trespassing'. The whole dream was this fear that I would be found out and then thrown out and not be able to attend the concert. -M

Sometimes I think I have these dreams, but they seem to vanish. I wonder if there is any residue left behind? Don't know. Will probably be hoping the answering is "no" come morning.

I joined one of the Facebook pages for Suzanne Vega recently and wrote in wishing that The Leaf Song could be a song that was available for feed on one's Facebook profile page. I've also played The Leaf Song more times than any other song over the last 2 years. So, of course, I would have a dream about it. Last night, I think. I only vaguely remember it, and yes, Vega, herself, was in the dream. It had something to do with The Leaf Song being either the theme song to a tv show or movie, or perhaps it was incorporated into a website as the theme lyrics. Or perhaps both. -M
