It haunts me. Each listening brings different emotions to the surface. That day (and for a, too short, period afterwards) was one of the few times in my life when I felt truly connected with folks far away in an unbelievable situation. We were all in shock and trying to figure out what was happening. Unlike so many other places where these horrible things have been going on for years, the US was unprepared and left feeling vulnerable. I'm not sure that we still understand the full significance or repercussions of what has followed. From my point of view, it should've brought us closer together with the rest of the world. Because of an administration that can't let go of it's arrogant and outdated "Superpower" stance, we are still just a massive island, alone. This song looks deeply into the aftermath on a very personal basis that everyone can relate to, one way or another. Amazing songwriting.

Best song on the record, I think.  No one has really spoken to the issue of anniversaries of all kinds and the meaning they have.

This is not at all a complaint, but I would have loved to hear this live at the Perth show last week.  It is the song I have most listened to from Beauty and Crime, so far.  One of those songs I leave on repeat sometimes.
