Suzanne i saw you in person very recently and i saw the youtube video you referred to and you are attractive as ever.  Certainly not "old".  My 28-yr-old friend said you were a very beautiful woman.  Even though you don't want to be anyone's "Maggie May"    well certainly you could be, in the good way.Smile

I don't know the proper response for the inappropriate comment,.  That poster was terribly rude and misguided!   Been going to your shows since 1986!

Suzanne  i have seen you very recently and have also seen the video on youtube that you referred to.  You are most certainly as attractive as ever .  In fact my 28-yr-old friend said you were a very beautiful woman.  I know you are not interested , but you could be anyone's "Maggie May" (in the good way, of course)Smile

That poster was misguided and indeed, quite rude!  Maybe the proper response is to ignore...........................

Cookie looks like an excellent Santa Claus;), and i must underline, a young one. Kudos for playing "Penitent"! Finally, a pressure group that succeeded, my hopes are renewed:), let's all scream Freeze Tag and Song of Sand

bah, that wikiwikiwakk. You'd be amazed the things people dare to say when they don't need to show their face and they think they are anonymous, it's like the whole world is full of bullies but some simply fell on the role of the victim. If you are still thinking about replying anything, here's the anti-bully background intelligence briefing (a true WMD):

"i saw your friend today. i think i'm in love with her hair.
i also met this cool chick in my PE class who has cool shoes.
HAHA they're cool because I HAVE THEM. they're my black chucks. but with sweet laces." - wikiwikiwakk (august 2007)

"this war is sucking the money right off the streets" yes, and it was obvious it would be this way. Aside from anti-bullying education, i think there's a kind of emergency need for an individual-thinking education, along with anti-brainwashing prevention and rhetoric-decoding. But of course, that would jeopardize what democracy has become everywhere in today's world.

    - Amazing!I've never believed in that.Am i dead?
    - No. You're just hallucinating.

Chris? The "TSRTS" dvd is a lot better. The restored tracks and footage are great and the sound is vastly improved.

It's just not their best performance. The various shows "LZ" dvd set is the real keeper. Okay. 'nuf Zep talk.

Suzanne? I was watching your "Montreaux" dvd and got to wondering what goes through your mind when partcularly rude hecklers (i/e, drunks) howl out, repeatedly, during shows. Do you try to supress an instinctive reaction to, "shoot from the hip", or, have you accepted that it just happens and get on with the show? I've seen how some musicians can be rattled during a song, especially a quiet passage. It breaks whatever flow they were creating and makes the rest of the show seem forced. Has that ever happened to you?

Thanks huntre.  To finish off this Led Zep sequence I'll just say that I've just ordered the 'various shows' DVD that you mentioned - (ie the 2-DVD 5-hour one from 2003) - which everyone agrees is exceptionally good.   I watched TSRTS on video last night and will consider getting the DVD later.  Horselunges Manor features mainly in the opening sequence, by the way.

I'm now wondering why, on the page so generously created for me, Amazon have recommended the third season of Battlestar Galactica, "because you rated the Passionate Eye: The Collected Writings of Suzanne Vega".

They recommended "Tin Man" for me. "TIN MAN"!  Another crappy "event" on the Sci-Fi channel. Somehow, it was related to Aimee Mann. Must be one of those Kevin Bacon, six degrees of separation, deals.

Thanks for sharing your rendition of Winter Wonderland Suzanne! Very jazzy and groovy – I like it! Found myself humming it while fixing breakfast with the nuns this morning! Any chance of hearing other holiday/Christmas podcasts from you? Lucky for those who will catch your Christmas shows!

Reuniting with old friends is one of the wondrous things in life that I've been fortunate to experience of late so I can understand how delightful it was for you to meet your pal, Karen from your Camp Che-nah-wah days (who I vaguely recall posted something on the Undertow too).

Congratulations on the end of the US leg of your tour for this year! Happy, restful (hopefully) holidays!

Happy holidays to all Towies too and for those who celebrate Christmas, may you a grace filled Advent journey towards a blessed and meaningful Christmas!

Wishing one and all peace, hope and joy,

    Wendy

    Hi Suzanne.

Regarding that age post, don't bother responding. In my opinion, this person's been out of the SV loop for too long to have a clear perspective. I'm 49 and at my best, so I've been told. Good enough for me.

Oh. You handle hecklers/howlers like a "Pro.".

I was surprised to hear that the record sales didn't go  well in the U.S.  After all the enthusiasm...but then this is the undertow.  Although we all are attentive listeners, and sometimes critical, we also are too much in love / infatuation with your music. At least I am. It doesn't seem fair.

Well, I hope you have a wonderful time off before you continue to tour in Asia!

    Have a great Christmas!

    Cheers,
    Annika

Keep your head up, the work is as brilliant as ever, if not better.  And it will continue to be there for lucky seekers to discover it for a long, long time.

The people you are reaching, you are reaching deeply.

The blood, sweat, and tears of a work of art, I think, is worthwhile if only you manage to touch a single person deeply with it, be it music or a book or whatever.

     Best.

Suzanne: I just wanted to say thank you for such a great tour and a wonderful album, and for welcoming the fans to come along for the virtual ride through your blog and this website.

So sorry about the numbers, which I find difficult to explain. (I have recently tried to help by buying my second copy of Beauty & Crime -- I got the vinyl version.) But I have to believe the marketplace will catch up eventually. My unscientific impression was that half the people attending the Atlanta show, at the least in the front section, seemed to be musicians themselves, which should tell you something about the esteem that you're held in among people who are paying attention.

In the meantime, thank you for staying true to your artistic vision and such a high standard of quality. Plus, that band of yours really rocks.
