    CasparHauser,

I am impressed by your collection  -- where did the video singles come from??  I just recently found SV and SS on vinyl. :-)  They have the orignal lyric sleeves and are in pretty good shape.  I guess I need to reconnect my turntable.  The sound quality, with rounded analog waves, suits Suzanne so much better than square digital waves.  As a collector CasparHauser, do you know which of Suzanne's albums are available on vinyl??

    Thanks for sharing,

    Peace, Ra

    Thanks Ra.

As far as the vinyls are concerned, I think it has been discussed here: http://www.suzannevega.com/forums/thread/18922.aspx. I cannot really help, because my collecting policy is more content-oriented. I like vinyls as objects, but I won't buy them just for the sake of collecting :)

As for the video, I will get back to you with the playlist. I'm sure it is no unreleased material and might be an alternate edition of available material.

I have a pretty good SV collection, but nowhere near Spikey's or the other person with the tremendous collection.

In addition to all of the studio album CDs (including or limited to the Japanese-only extra-track versions of Songs in Red and Gray and Beauty & Crime), the other ones that I have that haven't seemed to pop up yet  (unless I missed them when reading) or are otherwise noteworthy include:

Great Acoustics (Live in Italy in 1984, 7 songs including the unreleased "Daniella" & "Rent Song")

Live in London (both original CD as well as original LP with OBI strip)

3 versions of Rosemary CD single meaning I have both extended and edited mixes of the Herbaceous and Europa versions as well as the DNA version

Live @ Shibuya Music Exchange (both DVD & CD) - I HIGHLY recommend this and it is still available for order from some online outfits

Days of Open Hand Ltd. Edition Hologram still sealed in Longbox (what I consider my "holy grail") - YES YES YES

    99.9F tour t-shirt

I really only strive to get all songs she has ever written and performed plus remixes plus at least one really good live version of each of her songs.  I have some collaborations/covers of which I consider "In a Lonely Place", "What's Wrong With The Man Upstairs", "Buy and Sell" and "Ignorant Sky" to be among the best.

Now, I feel quite depressed about this thread! :)

At that point, it's not a collection anymore; it's a discography!

Though, as I mentioned and as a collector of other bands, I'm more into the content: I seek to get completeness of an artitst's work, not all items refering to her/him.

Spikey, I'm sure Suzanne herself has not so many items!

Yeah, Caspar, I feel the same way too.

And yeah, here's a possible future scenario:

(Private message - Suzanne to Rutger):  Rutger, I desperately need x and g and l and z from your collection.  Do you think that you could "lend" them to me.  I promise I'd give them back to you, eventually, I PROMISE I PROMISE I PROMISE.

About "The Videosingles" videotape, all clips on the video are featured (among others) on the "Retrospective" DVD, except "Gypsy" which is extracted from Suzanne's concert at the RAH.

By the way, the "Retrospective" DVD is really great. I got my copy yesterday and I spent the whole evening listening to Suzanne commenting her own videoclips! Great.

PS: "Last Year's Troubles" is somehow disturbing but very interesting compared with the great "99.9F°" en "Blood makes noise" videoclips...

I don't have the time at the moment to document my collection.  However, mine is like Wafer's or Spikey's, but I have a lot of cover versions, magazines, posters, clothing, and other odds and ends (compilations that only have album versions with other artists, among others).

yeah uncwilly i recall the days of shifting thru ebay and seeing either you or djhammer ( I think that was his name)  that was bidding on stuff and usually tried not to bid against.  and I am not about to list my collection of poster  or other memorabilia  :-)

as for  going to far with a collection I am like that with with a few artist,  Ani Difranco, Nine Inch Nails, 311 and Alice in Chains, Jethro Tull, Loreena Mckennitt, They Might Be Giants,  Link Park to name a few.... I just tend to have collecting problem...  could be why I have over 800 cds back home :-)

I tend to try and stay away from ebay these days I save money that way :-)
