No one else? Is this like Britney's shows as M&M's? or is this going to be a live album in the future, like the Coachhouse? or..... Uncwilly Cheese of the day: Bleu de Laqueuille

Well, I took down the set list and various notes. I won't be able to post a full transcription until Friday. A few quick notes. 7 of the songs off B&C were performed. Suzanne (with and without guitar), Mike on bass, Doug on percussion, guitar player, keyboard, strings (electro-violin), female backing vocals on some tracks, some male backing vocals on some tracks and Phil running the board. This gig was primarilly aimed at the industry. Smallest club on the west coast in some time. Tom's Diner like you have never heard it before live. At least 2 gigs in the greater LA area in Nov. The show was a sell-out. Uncwilly aka William Andrews Song of the day: Ludlow Street, Suzanne Cheese of the day: Penbryn

You are so right about Toms Diner -- and the way she described it was perfect: trancelike. It was like a homage to all the remixes. I thought Alison was a great back up singer and multitalented musician -

It was awesome! Too short, of course. Industry and Hollywood types, very little seating - we had to stand up. The place was a funky dive and that was ok - but the mgmt is very disorganized. The band was great and she was great--it was pretty controlled as far as the set list, and she wouldnt take requests -- She talked a lot about the genesis of the songs and about them being about New York. Said she was coming back Nov 14 to the El Rey, but I havent found any info on it.

Well we're sorry we missed it. Almost bought tickets before we got a reminder that we've had tickets for Jersey Boys for a long long time. Good thing Jersey Boys was great... Thanks for the tip on the Nov shows Uncwilly - Can't wait and it will be nice to see you again. Counting the days for Beauty and Crime Wendy!

The show was terrific but short. We lucked-out and got seats, but most people had to stand. Much too small of a club for her but having such an intimate venue here in So Cal, where she so rarely comes, was fab. Was delighted with S's comments on the music, her explanations about "the snapshots" she had written about. She looks well, sounded wonderful, was sharp as a tack with her comments, and it was a great. New song "Anniversary" was outstanding -- an eloquent and poignant portrait of loss and sadness and the struggle to move forward. Loved it. Terrific writing (duh) !!!
If sand waves were sound waves What song would be in the air now?

Very rare treat to see her so close. Mike and the band were literally in a tiny corner, and the place was pretty warm (as in hot) SV did a lovely job of introducing the new songs (that IS why I was there) the people who shout "Play Luka" are annoying. SV, as always was cool and collected as she said "When I play Luka and Tom's Diner, you'll know the show is over" This woman has the confidence of a journeyman performer, who by strength of character has not lost her vision or the voice of her artistry. That is probably why she doesn't hitch her fame or persona on "Luka" and is capable of making relevant music. Dodd
