This is one of my favorite songs...It is a beautiful love song where voice, lyrics and music are perfectly mixed, sometimes with softness and other times with forcefulness.
I have listened it hundred times. I always feel like something mysterious on it that makes me rediscover it time after time. It has some kind of mysticism that does it lovely.
When I listen songs like ‘World Before Columbus’, ‘Gypsy’, ‘In Liverpool’, etc.. I say to myself ‘thanks Suzanne for existing’

she seems to find a love we all long to find. she embodies the feelings that i feel will never be expressed, but somehow she finds a way. it seems only she can. she is a lover and a poet. i too am glad she exists.

I read in an album review that Suzanne's written this song to her daughter, Ruby. It's a very beautiful song revealing a tender and pure love.I love the part in which it's simple and fluent melody is accompanied by flickering sound of synthesizer ,gives it a miraculous atmosphere.I am too glad she exists and also too happy for having the chance to listen to her music.

It is sad to say until I heard this song the extent of Suzanne's art was limited to what I had heard on the radio(Luka, and Tom's Diner). It was not quite 8 years ago, I was a new mom,and a newlywed of 1year. I was watching a PBS special and Suzanne sang this song. It touched me so deeply and profoundly,if it had been pledge week I would have pledged whatever I needed to,to get that song. I have searched for it ever since. I don't know why I never thought to look for it on the internet until tonight. Long story short, as I searched for World before Columbus I was exposed and infected by more of her work. It is now in my blood. Somenights when I have insomnia and am missing my DH(he works nights)I will set the player to repeat,Gypsy or several others. Many nights she has been my own personal Lullabye minstrel.
Suzanne, thank you for so many hours of soothing, quiet, reflection.

World Before Columbus is the most amazing song. Suzanne is really a great poet as well as musician. For me, her lyrics are up there with Yeats and Oscar Wilde. In this song, the simplicity of the music is great in highlighting the lyrics. They're so simple and so effective.

Just watched the video clip for a live performance of this song on the website. Believe it or not, seeing it performed live actually adds to the song. I'm really glad and grateful it's been made available to watch on this website.

Amazing and mysterious song which tells us what the love is and that is stronger than death. It's a true I know it because my father died when he was 37 and I was 13. I still love him so much. I believe that he love me too. however Daddy world is really so cruel without you. Suzanne was well.
I am turning in your hand...
