I forgot to post to tell you that Headshots is definitely my favorite song on 9 Objects...
I used to listen to it over and over . I know some people don't like it and I still wondering why :-)

In my book this is one of the coolest tunes Suzanne ever recorded. But I can't help seeing a connection to "Thin Man". They may differ in their specifics, but both songs speak of being haunted by a mysterious man. In both cases, this subject is kind of... everywhere.

In Headshots: "Turn the corner, and he's still there..."

In Thin Man: "He is with me like a shadow..."

Both songs have that kind of "sneaky spy" mood to them. This idea of a haunting ghost seems to appeal to her on NOOD. It's odd considering her new marriage... You'd expect sappy love ballads. Odder still, that the ghosts even took center stage in her honeymoon song.

Headshots is quickly becoming a loved song on 9OOD. i never feel/interpret songs like anyone else. headshots just reminds me of the pursuit of perfection. how it haunts and stirs in the background always lingering just out of reach. but you can smell it. i don't know.

I just love the sound of her.

"To me, that's a song about walking through Soho, which is near where I live. For a while, there was a poster that was all over Manhattan. It just said Headshots and there was the number, and there was the face of a boy. It was just evocative, almost as a piece of art in itself. It was a photographer trying to get work, but I found that that face reminded me of someone that I used to live with, and that provoked a lot of memories and guilt, and so on and so forth. That's how that song ended up being written. It's a reflective song."
