    Hello !

This message is primarily aimed at Suzanne Vega or her management team.

I am representing a group of french amateur composers. We are thinking about organizing a remix "contest" (through the internet), based on the song "Tom's Diner" (well, the acapella version of course).

Participants would have to compose a music to go on this vocal track, splitting the vocal track as needed by their orchestration. The purpose of this contest is primarily to learn from each other. It is non commercial, and no music made through this contest would ever be sold. Credit is of course given to the original material.

So, basically, I would like to know if Suzanne is Ok with us using her piece of music within our contest. We don't want to infringe copyright laws :-)

Please do not disregard this post, it is serious although we are amateurs. If you need further information, please get back to me and I'll make myself a pleasure to answer to any question you may have.

    Sincerely,
    Dominique Gerber

Suzanne has always been interested in the creativity that "Tom's Diner" has generated. Suzanne and her management approve of the contest as log as none of the tracks is used for commercial purposes without further approval.

    Thank you very much !
Be assured that none of the tracks will be used for commercial purposes. If a really good track gets out of this contest, we would come back to you for further aggrement.
