With volume 3 supposedly released in three weeks (Amazon Canada says it's released on July 19th), I'm surprised there's been no announcement on the website. No word about preordering the CD, no word about any bonus tracks… in fact, no word about the album itself. What's going on ? Is it getting released or not ?

Hi,
I was wondering exactly about the same thing, as I wrote in another mail some days ago. I've already ordered the album via Amazon, about 10 days ago and they comunicated me the 13th of July as dispatch estimate for the item (paying extra price for the fastest delivery). But just in these days I read on Amazon website that a release date has not yet been set for the title !!! I'm a little bit confused…But the strangest thing is that no promotion is being made on this website…A voice in my brain say to me that the release date will be postponed to September….Well, I can understand, being Suzanne on tour outside USA in this period…
The truth is that I can't wait for the moment to listen to the album!!!

Oh good, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one puzzled by this. I guess we shouldn't expect volume 3 to show up in July. It would be much appreciated if management or Suzanne saw this thread, and issued a statement about what's happening with this new release…

That's one of the reason why I haven't preordered anything.

As of today, Amazon Canada and Amazon US both mention that no release date has yet been set for this album. We'll obviously just have to wait and see. I guess Suzanne's been so busy with the play, that she needed a little more time for a proper release of volume 3.
An official update on this issue would still be much appreciated…

So, apparently we finally got an official announcement :
http://www.suzannevega.com/clo…..july-11th/
Out on July 11th in Europe, out in the Fall in the US . Not a word about the rest of the world, nor about any bonus tracks, if there are any. It doesn't seem that they're selling it in her website at this time.
Still hoping for Language as a bonus track here, still unsure whether to buy this and get bonus tracks later (if ever) or wait for the whole thing to come out (or at least be mentioned).
Till soon!
Miki

Oddly enough, this official announcement isn't on the main page of the official website. At least, that's not what I see when I reach the main page – I get the "13 days when music changed forever" headline. I can't even find where that announcement is unless I click on Miki's link. It should be right there for every visitor to see.
We're still a bit left in the dark here. Will there be any bonus tracks ? Will they be available in every territory ? Should Europeans wait for the album to be released with bonus tracks ?

I totally agree with you…There is an official announcement, but you can find it only in a hard way. To me it's the same as you: I can see the announcement only following Miki's link, while I' can't find it looking through the Message Board or in other way. The strangest thing is the lack of the announcement in the main page of site. I have my idea: maybe, for some contract reason (for example with Amazon) the July date release for the album can't be postponed, but Suzanne and her menagement now think that promotion of the album would be better later, for example in Autumn, when Suzanne will be free from the tour or however will stay in the States. Only at that time the official announcement will be made evidently on the website main page. It's just my idea ….. and of course without any criticism to Suzanne and her staff. In the meanwhile, being not able to wait for the official promotion or announcement of future possibile bonus-tracks, I've ordered the album via Amazon paying extra-price for the fastest delivery….which is scheduled for July the 13th!!!
it will be better to promote the album later, for example in September,

You make many good points.
In the meantime, the official announcement is now on the main page of the website. Suzanne has a bunch of great people working for her – for the second time in a week, we pointed something out on the message board, and they took it into consideration.
I guess the only piece left missing in the puzzle, is the bonus tracks. Shall I push my luck and ask management if we can expect some ? I live in Canada, so it's not like the album is available here yet… but if no bonus tracks are to be expected (which would be a shame), then I'll order an import copy of volume 3.

Hey folks,
While we're all waiting for our hard copies of Vol.3 to arrive in the mail, I thought I'd continue what I started with Vol.2. Here's an update of the graph showing distribution of songs by original album:

You can click the graph to get a larger version.
So far, 51 songs have been released in the Close-Up project, including bonuses. As you can see, the debut album is fully rerecorded, and already appears on the first 3 volumes, meaning Vol.4 will have nothing from it. Solitude Standing is all but done as well, with In The Eye and Night Vision missing (and I can't quite see them belonging to Vol.4). DoOH remains behind, with only 2 songs rerecorded. NOoD, SiRaG and B&C all have a respectable representation.
Overall, Vol.3 has something from every album, including a new song that appears nowhere else (Youtube doesn't count ). My review of Vol.3 will soon appear here, and will probably be long and detailed as usual.

Looks good, Yuval. But when will Left of Center and Rosemary appear? I don't see either as family songs, but I can't believe she will leave out 2 of her most-oft played, and memorable, songs.
But I'll buy whatever she throws out, and be happy to have it.
…long time 'till September….

I'm equally puzzled… Left of Center is one of Suzanne's most prominent "mental health" songs, and the live version of it totally rocks, too. Rosemary, well, I have a very warm place in my heart for that one, but I'm not sure which volume it should have been placed in. Is it a love song? A song about memory? It could be a family song ("My sister says she never dreams at night"), so there's still hope for Vol.4…
… long time until December, or whenever Vol.4 is released…

Well, I guess we all have our favourites. I was definitely expecting "Left of Center" on volume 3, I would have bet on it; so I'm quite shocked that it isn't there. I'm also puzzled by the absence of "Bad wisdom" and "Tired of sleeping"; then again, the latter might show up on volume 4, if only because of the "Oh mom" hook. Let's all just wait and see – who knows, maybe North America will get more bonus tracks !

My copy of Vol.3 arrived in the mail yesterday, and has spinned in my car player a few times already. As I promised, a full review is coming.
One thing that bugs me is the bonus tracks. The CD itself comes with 14 songs, and I expected it would be like Vol.2, where there was a card with a Nimbit code, that allowed me to download the bonus tracks. This time – nada. I'm not even sure if these two songs (which sound like two of the best songs on this compilation, at least by their preview) can be bought at the Nimbit store individually, and I don't think I'm going to pay $10 for two songs when I have already paid for the other 14.
I hope this is not going to be like the iTunes fiasco of Vol.1, where the 4 bonus tracks were exclusively available through iTunes USA, excluding the rest of the world from the ability to legally own them. Bah.

So you still can't get those tracks, Yuval? Didn't Amazon pick them up?
If there are only 2 bonus tracks, it would seem all 16 would fit on a CD. How long does it run?
This is going to be like a diet. Holding out 'till September. aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh! Now I know what that means in "Cracking"

The CD runs about 44min, and there should have been no problem to fit the bonuses on it. Then again, neither of the previous volumes contained the bonus tracks on the CD, and they were offered as a separate download (via iTunes or directly from Nimbit). I expected the same for Vol.3.

Really, there was a card in Vol.2 so you could download the bonus tracks??? Either it wasn't there or I didn't find it – I paid extra for the downloads…
But then, I downloaded Close-Up vol 3 and will nevertheless buy the CD once Nimbit sells it. (I prefer ordering from Nimbit than from Amazon…despite the shipping costs it's still cheaper and also I like supporting small online shops. Apart from that Amazon still sells Nazi stuff which is why I boycott them whenever I can. Well, there are other online stores than Amazon but they are usually quite expensive, so I don't like ordering from them either.)
