Suzanne is reinterpreting and re-recording her catalog in an acoustic, intimate, and personal manner, and releasing them as 4 new thematic albums over the course of 2010-2011.
With her sultry voice, Suzanne Vega seamlessly joins her poetry and contemporary folk song with a sound that is utterly unique and identifiable to her alone. A pioneer among singer-songwriters, Suzanne has embarked on a project to re-imagine her own songbook in a stripped down and intimate manner. The 4 volumes include
“Love Songs,”
“People, Places & Things,”
“States of Being,”
“Songs of Family”
The first is Suzanne Vega Close-Up, Vol 1, Love Songs.
Hello,
Welcome to the first volume of the Close-Up Series. These are songs that I have written over the years and now re-recorded. I wanted to give you, the listener, a small sort of gift. These are the songs I consider love songs, although they are also songs of attraction, flirtation, and confrontation.
Thank you for listening,
With love,
Suzanne

Just received the Close Up Vol 1 album direct from US.
Quite beautiful! The songs and the stories (some very familiar, some new to me) exquisitely sung. Already have tickets for the London, Cadugan Square concert and can barely wait. You span the generations Suzanne.
Love from T,J & J

Hi!
Last week I saw a beautiful documentary about the making of Tom’s DIner and it brought me back such beautiful memories of your music! I just bought Love Songs and it sounds wonderful. I have always liked your voice and the poetry in your lyrics, and it fantastic to hear from you again.

A lot of the songs are so much better stripped down! I listen to this album and get absolutely hypnotized.
P.S. Thanks so much for making Freeze Tag available on tthe deluxe album — I know it’s not one you get asked to play a lot, but I’ve always loved that song.
